UltraClear® Laser

Dr. Bernstein is the first physician in the world to use the UltraClear® laser and is both the Chief Medical Officer and the Chairman of the medical advisory board for Acclaro, the company that makes the UlraClear® laser. The UltraClear® laser is a revolutionary new and extremely versatile fiber laser that can deliver anything from a lunchtime peel to a deep resurfacing and everything in between. This unique laser is often virtually painless, requiring no numbing cream, depending upon the settings. The unique design of the UltraClear® laser enables very superficial and painless treatments with significant effects in the deeper layers of skin, despite the location of laser energy absorption. In addition, very small treatment zones can be delivered deeply into the skin, minimizing discomfort, and maximizing results. The wavelength of the UltraClear® enables dual treatments of superficial Clear mode and deep Ultra mode simultaneously with little to no bulk heating of the skin, making for an effective and comfortable treatment.

DermaV® Laser

Dr. Bernstein is the first physician in Pennsylvania to get the DermaV laser and is involved in pivotal studies, investigating its use for a variety of conditions. The Lutronic DermaV® laser is a very versatile solid-state potassium-titanyl-phosphate (KTP) laser that emits green light to target and removed unwanted blood vessels and pigmentation while rejuvenating photodamaged skin. The Lutronic DermaV® laser is able to accomplish this because hemoglobin in our blood vessels absorbs green light, as does melanin pigment. The DermaV® emits a wavelength that is strongly absorbed by melanin, but also protects the surface of the skin using a spray cooling device, which is highly efficient at protecting the skin. In addition, the Lutronic DermaV® laser emits 3 types of pulses. What this means for our patients is that we can treat a large variety of vascular conditions as well as photoaging. The DermaV® almost always treats facial redness and photoaging with no bruising.

Vbeam Prima® Laser

This innovative laser that offers advances over the Vbeam Perfecta® was for the FIRST time in the WORLD used and acquired by Dr. Bernstein. The Vbeam Perfecta® is a pulsed-dye laser (PDL) that uses a rhodamine dye to produce yellow/orange light. Dr. Bernstein participated in its development and has published in the peer reviewed literature on using it to treat rosacea, neck redness (POC) and other conditions. Like the Vbeam Perfecta®, Dr. Bernstein uses this laser to treat all sorts of vascular conditions and for the treatment of photoaging including fine lines and wrinkles and enlarged pores.

GentleMax Pro®

Dr. Bernstein was the first physician in the U.S. to have both the GentleLase Pro® and GentleMax Pro® lasers. These lasers offer a dynamic cooling device to protect the surface of the skin while enabling heating of the lower parts of hair follicle for optimal treatment while minimizing discomfort.

PicoWay® Laser

The PicoWay® laser is a very versatile laser that delivers pulses less than a billionth of a second in duration. This means that the tissue interactions are quite unique providing opportunities to treat certain conditions we couldn’t easily treat in the past. Dr. Bernstein was the FIRST physician in the WORLD to get the PicoWay® laser and helped the engineers with its development. Dr. Bernstein and his collaborators also published the first peer-reviewed manuscript on removing tattoos with the PicoWay® laser. It delivers multiple wavelengths including: 1,064 nm, 532 nm, 730 nm and 785 nm, and has the ability to deliver fractionated 532 nm and 1,064 nm laser energy for rejuvenation of sun-damaged skin and treatment of acne scars in any skin type.

Fraxel® Dual Laser

The Fraxel® Dual laser is an innovative fiber-laser designed to make tiny microthermal treatment zones in the skin, stimulating a healing response that replaces the sun-damaged collagen and elastin in photoaged skin with healthier skin, and the disordered collagen fibers of scars with more normally organized collagen. It is called the Fraxel® Dual because if offers 2 wavelengths, 1,927 nm for treating more superficially and 1,550 nm for treating more deeply. The Fraxel® Dual Laser is fantastic for treating acne scarring and for rejuvenation of photoaging in all but the darkest skin types.

Clear+Brilliant® Laser by Fraxel®

The Clear+Brilliant® laser is a mild version of the Fraxel® Dual Laser, offering 2 wavelengths of laser energy, and is perfect for rejuvenating mildly photodamaged skin. It is also the perfect device for maintaining the benefits of other laser treatments over time. At Main Line Center for Laser Surgery, Dr. Bernstein was the first in the U.S. to acquire the Perméa handpiece of the Clear+Brilliant® laser. It has replaced microdermabrasion as a rejuvenating and freshening treatment in our laser center. Movie stars have Clear+Brilliant® laser treatments written into their contracts for films as well as receiving treatments before the Oscars.

PicoWay® 785 nm Laser-Pumped Laser

Dr. Bernstein was the FIRST physician in the WORLD to use and acquire the PicoWay® laser-pumped 785 nm laser. This laser is enclosed in a handpiece and uses the 532 nm PicoWay® laser to stimulate the titanium:sapphire crystal yielding 785 nm laser light. Dr. Bernstein and his colleagues performed a pivotal peer-reviewed publication investigating the effectiveness of this laser for removing tattoos. The PicoWay® 785 nm laser is also quite useful for removing unwanted freckles and pigmentation in all skin types.

Sun gives us fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, sagging skin, pigmentation, and unwanted redness.

Dr. Bernstein was the second member of the Tixel® medical advisory board and the first physician in the tri-state to get the Tixel®. The Tixel® is a unique device that delivers microthermal treatment zones with a titanium tip resembling a waffle with pyramids coming to a point. These points impact the skin for fractions of a second and result in fractionated skin treatments that leave unaffected skin in between. This stimulates a healing response to remodel photoaged skin more closely resemble younger unaffected skin. Using heat energy, instead of laser energy that is absorbed and then produces heat, results in a unique treatment effect. The versatility of the Tixel® device enables treatments ranging from very mild, lunch time treatments to fractionated resurfacing to address both photoaging and acne scaring. In addition, studies using the Tixel® to treat some ocular conditions makes this a very novel device.

CO2RE® Laser

The CO2RE®laser is a fractionated carbon dioxide (CO2) laser, which makes tiny treatment zones in an array to cover a large area while leaving untreated areas between the laser spots. This ‘fractionated’ approach results in less side-effects and quicker healing than lasers that treat an entire area without any sparing of skin in between the dots. CO2 lasers target water and, since we are made of water, they create microthermal treatment zones in the skin that are either superficial or deep depending upon the fluence (energy) of the laser pulses. The CO2RE® laser can blend both superficial and deep pulses in a single, larger treatment pulse. It was developed by the famous laser engineer Shlomo Assa and his team.

UltraPulse® Laser with Active FX® and Deep FX®

The original UltraPulse® laser was a groundbreaking carbon dioxide (CO2) laser that revolutionized the treatment of sun-damaged skin. The newest iteration of these lasers offers a more fractionated approach to improving sun-damaged skin with less downtime and side effects than the original UltraPulse® laser, but also less dramatic results. The trade-off is usually worth it in the modern era of skin laser surgery. The superficial and deep treatment attachments allow versatile treatment options, repairing fine lines and wrinkles and superficial changes brought about by skin aging. In addition, Active FX® and Deep FX® are frequently used for improving burn scars and mature scars that lack redness of earlier scars. This laser has made possible the improvement of mature scars thought to be highly resistant to laser treatment.

eMatrix® Fractionated Radiofrequency

The eMatrix® Fractionated Radiofrequency device delivers radiofrequency energy while leaving spared zones in between treatment zones, all non-invasively, without needles. The eMatrix® has been used on all skin types for rejuvenation of mild photodamage, and is also used for maintaining the results of other laser treatments. The eMatrix® is generally used to deliver a series of 4 or more initial treatments followed by periodic maintenance treatments as needed, which is on a schedule that is determined by each individual to suit their needs.

Potenza® RF Microneedling and INTRAcel® RF Microneedling

INTRAcel® microRF injection therapy or RF microneedling uses insulated needles to deliver RF energy to various depths within the skin. One of the fantastic features of this device is that it deposits energy beneath the surface of the skin so the INTRAcel can be used on all skin types. It doesn’t injure or disturb the surface layer causing pigmentation problems in darker complexion patients like so many other devices may. The INTRAcel® is a go-to device for neck and chest rejuvenation in all skin types as well as for facial rejuvenation and treatment of acne scarring.

LightSheer® Laser

The LightSheer® laser was the first truly safe and effective hair removal laser to see widespread adoption. The LightSheer® laser uses contact cooling to protect the surface of the skin, while administering 810 nm laser energy to target hair. We use the LightSheer® laser for specific areas that we feel are particularly suited to this laser’s unique cooling characteristics, pulse-duration and wavelength. This laser was invented by a famous laser engineer Bob Grove, Ph.D. and his colleagues in a ground-breaking success at delivering an extremely safe and effective laser to advance the practice of laser hair removal.

Laser hair removal is one of the most popular procedures because it works so well.

CoolSculpting® Cryolipolysis

CoolSculpting® is a unique device that exploits the different temperatures at which skin versus fat are injured. Once treated by cold using the CoolSculpting® device, fat cells undergoe apoptosis, programed cell death, and are removed over a period of weeks following treatment. We don’t replace these fat cells, so the results are quite long-lasting. The treatment uses applicators that gently pull the fat away from the body, allowing it to cool over a period of 35-45 minutes. The treatment is non-invasive, gentle and very well tolerated. Dr. Bernstein at Main Line Center for Laser Surgery was the FIRST practice and physician in PENNSYLVANIA to acquire the CoolSculpting® device. Dr. Bernstein serves on the prestigious CoolSculpting® medical advisory board and has published on the use of the CoolSculpting® in the peer-reviewed literature.

EMSCULPT® Body Toning

EMSCULPT® uses electromagnetic pulses to stimulate muscle contractions of a type we can’t get from working out. The EMSCULPT® device is FDA-cleared for treating 5 muscle groups including: the abdomen, buttocks, arms, legs and pelvic floor. EMSCULPT® has been shown to improve separation of the abdominal muscles, rectus diastasis, as well as stress incontinence which is often brought on by childbirth. This novel non-invasive treatment is the FIRST device designed to build muscle for body sculpting.

truSculpt® Body Toning
