LightSheer® Laser

Best suited for light to medium skin tones

The LightSheer® laser uses contact cooling to protect the surface of the skin, while administering 810 nm laser energy, barely visible red light, to target hair.

LightSheer® Laser

The LightSheer® laser, by Lumenis, was the first truly safe and effective hair removal laser to see widespread adoption. The LightSheer® laser uses contact cooling to protect the surface of the skin, while administering 810 nm laser energy, barely visible red light, to target hair. We use the LightSheer® laser for specific areas that we feel are particularly suited to this laser’s unique cooling characteristics, pulse-duration and wavelength. This laser was invented by a famous laser engineer, Bob Grove, Ph.D., and his colleagues in a ground-breaking success at delivering an extremely safe and effective laser to advance the practice of laser hair removal.

LightSheer® FAQ

What wavelength is the Lumenis LightSheer® laser and why is this important?

The LightSheer® laser emits barely visible red light of 810 nm. This wavelength is between the shorter 755 nm alexandrite laser wavelength used for lighter skin types, and the longer 1,064nm wavelength used for darker skin types.

Can the 810 nm LightSheer® laser treat all skin types?

Although initially the 810 nm LightSheer® laser was used to treat all skin types, it is best suited for light to medium skin tones. The 1,064 nm Nd:YAG laser or 1,060 nm diode laser were invented subsequent to the 810 nm LightSheer® laser for safer treatment of darker skin types.

Does the 810 nm LightSheer® laser integrating cooling to protect the skin?

Yes, the 810 nm LightSheer®® laser has contact cooling to protect the surface of the skin thus heating the lower layers of the skin more selectively, where the parts of the hair follicle we are treating with the laser reside.

Why do you have three different types of hair removal lasers and where does the 810 nm LightSheer® laser fit in?

We have all three types of hair removal lasers because we are super blessed to have been involved in the development and testing of cutting-edge laser technologies, including those for laser hair removal. We use the 810 nm LightSheer® laser for very specific areas of the body where contact cooling, 810nm laser energy, and the pulse-durations achievable with diode lasers are all ideal.

What type of laser is the 810 nm LightSheer® laser?

The 810 nm LightSheer® laser is a diode laser, which means it is highly reliable, operates at a wavelength in-between the 755 nm alexandrite and 1,064 nm Nd:YAG lasers, and emits fairly long pulse-durations with high energies which are ideal for removal of thick hair.
